G-PAK
Overview
Goal Scorer Pathways Analysis Kit or G-PAK was developed at the instance of DELIVER Educational Consulting who needed to reach all the VCE students with a highly reliable product, running over a variety of operating platforms. As with all projects, the timeframe to develop and deliver was very short.
Developed and delivered in time, G-PAK was distributed on CD to 30,000 VCE students in Victoria in 2003. G-PAK system provided students the ability to quickly and easily find recommended courses and selection information for 800 occupations and 1200 occupational listings in interest group blocks. For students, it provided an extremely useful tool that matches their competencies with available career options.
While helping the students, G-PAK 2004 provided universities and educational institutions, a powerful and inexpensive media for reaching out to High School students with message and advertisements. Through this, they were able to reach their audience directly and in a very pointed manner. The system allows advertisers to place graphic banners and links to web pages at multiple points in the user interface, delivering the message in the best context to the end user to view with maximum impact. We believe this will lower advertisement and overall costs of an education system.
G-PAK (Goal Scorer Pathways Analysis Kit) is about managing career pathways for students. This requires students to sift thru large amounts of information. Managing such information is hard, and G-PAK makes it very simple, covering 800 occupations, 7,300 tertiary courses and 200,000 cross-matched data entries. Students choose an occupation or group of occupations to search, apply filters and G-PAK does the rest, producing reports for each occupation which

Tycho Audit Manager
Tycho Audit Manager (TAM) is a packaged product developed by auditors for effective management of internal audit. The product helps the auditor perform critical activities such as identifying key audit areas and subsequently providing clear audit objectives and guidelines drawn from a knowledge base. With the TAM system, the auditor can methodically prepare an audit plan that clearly outlines what is going to be audited and how it is going to be audited. This ensures that the benefits of internal audit are maximised by deploying scarce audit resources to the most pressing concerns of the enterprise. Audit projects are tracked methodically, and the entire audit process becomes fully visible and easily understood by the Audit Committee.
The system embodies an audit methodology using the basic concepts described above. Once the auditor has defined (or tailored) Business Functions, Audit Units, Risk Criteria and Risk Criteria Weights for the enterprise through TAM/System, the main steps of the method are:
The Tycho Audit Manager (TAM) System consists of a base TAM/System module together with three specific modules:
-
TAM/Risk: Provides a comprehensive risk assessment and audit planning mechanism.
-
TAM/Guidelines: Provides a knowledge base for ensuring best practices in audit.
-
TAM/Project: Enables full management of audit projects and work papers.
The Tycho Audit Manager system operates under Windows 2000 or higher. The system database and programs occupy about 3M of disk space.
Record Initial Risk For each Audit Unit, the auditor enters risk scores for each risk criteria based on his subjective opinion using TAM/Risk. The completed Risk Matrix constitutes the Initial Risk Opinion. The auditor can also record in free text any relevant notes or rationale for his scores. The system records these notes and the risk scores for each Audit Unit with the date the opinion was formulated.
Rank Risk Matrix The weighted sum of the risk scores for each Audit Unit are ranked into “Low”, “Medium” and “High” risk categories by the Auditor. TAM/Risk carries out this ranking using weighted sums of risk scores for each Audit Unit.
Identify Audit Projects The auditor can now select audit units with high risk profiles and define audit projects. The system provides generic audit objectives for each Business Function and best practice guidelines which the auditor can tailor for specific situations. The auditor can also record the expected investment in time and resources for each project and its scheduled start/completion dates.
Compile Audit Plan The data recorded in the system through the Initial Risk Opinion and the defined Audit Projects can now be compiled to produce concise audit plan documents for presentation to the Audit Committee.
Conduct Audit Projects TAM/Project is used to manage audit projects, record work papers, monitor audit suggestions and follow-up, and provide concise reports on the Internal Audit Department’s daily activities. The system provides auditors with an easy to use central repository in which they can record their work and follow-up on their recommendations. Through TAM/Project, the Internal Audit Manager is able to track audit projects and provide Management with concise reports on how scarce audit resources are being deployed with what results.
Further, the system facilitates the transfer of audit personnel between audit projects. The central repository of detailed information on an audit project allows a new auditor to quickly come up to speed with the issues and past history of audit work in a particular area.
Record Audit Opinion Once each audit project is completed, the auditor revises his Initial Risk Opinion for the relevant Audit Units and records appropriate notes on his findings and rationale for the revisions. These constitute the Audit Project Opinion (as opposed to the Initial Risk Opinion). The system maintains records of these together with the date on which they were formulated. This database of Audit Project Opinions provides the auditor with a history of risk assessments of each Audit Unit of the enterprise. These can be compiled into concise reports supported with graphs for presentations to the Audit Committee.
