Envision Green Travel & Rideshare Program

The Envision Green Travel Program was developed in 2003 at the initiative of Darebin City Council, Victoria, Australia. The program is intended for workplaces that wish to encourage and recognise employees adopting 'green modes' of travel i.e. walking, cycling, using public transport or car sharing. It is a Rewards based Program that recognises initiative taken by the employee. Besides offering awards to employees, the program offers powerful yet easy to use utilities to measure progress and impact of the program in the workplace. Due to its comprehensive 'reporting' facilities, it is often considered 'Program Manager's delight' who now have access to vital statistics, on a few a keystrokes and mouse clicks.

Both Envision Green Travel & Rideshare are fully customisable programs and come with workplace / community logo. The fonts, colours of the program can be changed to match workplace intranets. It is also possible to change text such as legal & disclaimer as per workplace / community policy.The programs can be easily installed on workplace / community Intranets or on Internet. Should it be required and done for some valued patrons, the program can be hosted by us on servers in the US or Australia.

Description

The Envision Green Travel (EGT) Program offers a unique means of achieving environmental and financial benefits by reducing dependency on cars for travel by office workers and commuters. Endorsed by Government initiatives such as TravelSmart, this system provides an inexpensive, easily understood and visible means of promoting, tracking and measuring the impact of Green Travel Programs within an organisation. The EGT system has been successfully implemented at the Darebin City Council to support the following objectives:

1. Reduce the overall number of vehicle trips for journeys to work and business travel.
2. Manage the demand for car parking.
3. Reduce the level of car travel by visitors and service providers.
4. Encourage the use of public transport, walking and cycling for journeys to work and business travel (and to increase mode share).
5. Reduce average fuel consumption of participants.
6. Increase car sharing.

EGT is a web-based system that is installed either on the workplace Intranet or Internet. To participate, employees / associates register into it with a password of their choice. Upon successful registration, users get a Username and option to start entering their mode of travel from home to workplace and vice versa. All Participants get a point each for adopting green mode of travel from home to workplace or vice versa. The points are accumulated over a 12 months period and upon achieving workplace goal of green travel (usually 20% of total travel to / from workplace), participants become eligible for recognition and reward. The program sends email in this regard to the participant and Green Travel Administrator. Thereafter as per workplace policy, participants are rewarded.

Beginning from registration of a new participant or use, the program offers powerful and highly useful utilities to the Green Travel Manage. For example, in the beginning of the program, the manager may like to know as and when a user registers. For this, the program has a default utility that can be switched off in later stages, when immediate information is no longer needed. At any time, program manager can run and view Reports such list of registered, active or inactive participants, usage of the program and many others.

Rideshare

Rideshare or Carpooling is an important add on utility to Envision Green Travel Program. Workplaces wishing to implement both the green travel and carpooling programs can order monolith version of the same. The registered users can easily upgrade their registration to include Carpooling. To do so, participants enter some more details such as Street Directory reference in Australian / New Zealand or Street Address in the US ( and also in Street Address version in Australia / New Zealand).
